Great British Menu ™ Chef
Jack
Season:
Jack

Jack: "To represent the North West, I feel, is a real privilege and a real honor. I do have the experience of having a Michelin star, so that should put me in good stead. But there's a lot of pressure."

Jack is the co-owner and head chef at the Cottage in the Wood in Keswick, a Michelin-starred restaurant with rooms in the northern Lake District. He joined the Cumbria venue with his wife Beth  in January 2024.

Jack is originally from Southport and has worked in restaurants including the three-Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park in New York and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London, where he was development chef. He has also worked with Marcus Wareing at the two-Michelin-starred Berkeley hotel and the Gilbert Scott.

Living in Keswick in the Lake District, Jack is chef owner of the Michelin starred Cottage in the Wood, but previously worked for luminaries Marcus Waring and Gordon Ramsay.

" I actually originally first came to the cottage on my honeymoon. I sat down with my wife and we said it would be lovely to own a place like this. Fast forward a year and we've just purchased the cottage and now we operate it. We moved in on the Saturday, my son was born on the Sunday, and then we opened on the Tuesday. To win the Michelin star was one of the proudest moments of my life. Pinnacle that I've been working towards my whole career. I'm an incredibly competitive person and I wouldn't be taking part if I didn't think I could win."
