Who made this dish?
Signature challenge: eight identical handheld savory pies. Gabe made Brummie balti pies: lamb in a vibrant, spiced balti filling encased in a spiced hot water crust, topped with mango chutney, in the style of a pork pie. Gabe: "A handheld pie means you can hold it in your hand." Gabe: "I am making a Brummie balti pie. It's gonna feel a bit like a pork pie." Gabe: "We are making a Brummie balti, like a proper balti." Gabe: "This whole tent smells good. I'm such a savory person as well." Gabe: "No, this is my mango chutney." Gabe: "Honestly? I've made these to death at this point and I loved every single one of them. I ate all the pies. That old chant, that's about me." Gabe: "They are very sort of cottagecore, aren't they?" Gabe (presenting): "These are my Brummie balti pies. It's a spiced hot water crust with a balti filling and then topped with some mango chutney."
Paul: "They look unique. Wow. It's a tough old pastry that, isn't it?" Nigella: "I think the pastry is a bit crunchy rather than melty and crumbly." Paul: "You burnt the pastry. That's why it's gone crunchy. And the filling, however, is just delicious." Nigella: "I want it with some rice."
