Crystelle created a four-layer carrot cake with fresh cardamom, orange curd filling, and pistachio mascarpone frosting. The cake featured complementary flavors of orange, pistachio, and cardamom, with decorative baby marzipan carrots on top. The cake had a slight lean due to being assembled while still warm.
Paul Hollywood: "I love the flavor. You've got cardamom, pistachio and then you got orange. And then together it's a really nice." "Way you taste all of them." "I particularly like your baby carrots." "But it's not the best looking thing you've done." Prue Leith: "You do taste all of them and it's well balanced." "I do think it looks really nice. I love the pipe work." "By stacking it you're still returning the heat. And then you're going to get some movement." "And it doesn't say to me carrot cake, but I think it will when it's opened up."
