Who made this dish?
Signature challenge: 30 identical American-style cookies in two hours, any flavor, with an appropriate decorative finish, crisp to the bite with a chewy center. Gary's chocolate chip cookies with dried sour cherries, pecans for crunch and a sprinkle of extra salt are dedicated to Chocky, one of his pygmy goats, who sadly died. The idea came partly from one of Paul's books. Back home in Nottinghamshire, Gary likes to relax with a round of golf. {Gary}: "This is a chocolate chip cookie. It's got some dried sour cherries." Asked by Paul where the idea came from: {Gary}: "Well, partly from one of your books." {Gary}: "Got some little pygmy goats at home. One of the goats was called Chocky and unfortunately she got asthma and she sadly died. So that's why they're called Chockies from Heaven." {Gary}: "What I put inside them is sour cherry and it's got pecan nuts. Yeah, that's kind of it."
{Nigella Lawson}: "There is nothing wrong in restraint. Restraint is a very good partner to indulgence. I love the taste. I don't quite know what's happened. There's a slight toughness, but the taste is really heavenly." {Paul Hollywood}: "Just slightly overbaked, I think. But it's marginal, because you have got a chew and you have got crispy on the outside. Good job there, Gary." Later, in the judges' review, Paul said Gary had started well.
