Coconut Raspberry and Lemon Meringue Trifle

Ali created a traditional trifle with lady fingers base, featuring coconut, raspberry and lemon flavors topped with macaroons. Having never made or tasted a trifle before, Ali researched online and found lady fingers commonly used in traditional English trifles. He hoped his technical elements would impress despite being 90% unfamiliar with the components. The trifle included coconut, raspberry jam, lemon custard, and was topped with lemon macaroons which Ali made using a blowtorch for the first time.
Paul Hollywood praised Ali's clever use of two different tins for the jelly and found his macarons ambitious, noting he'd done traditional with a twist. Mary Berry said the jelly was lovely but the custard was quite slack, creating more of a ginger cake with jelly. However, she noted the macarons had good chewiness, the bottom sponges were beautifully soaked and soft, the cream was excellent, and the lemon-raspberry sharpness made for a nice trifle overall.
