Orange team lunch for the Cracker Barrel quickfire, served alongside a hoe cake. Time pressure was real, but Sherry spotted shrimp paste in the pantry and used it to compress hours of bisque-building into the brief window. {Sherry}: "Soup is a perfect lunch food. I know I’m not going to be able to develop the flavor that I want in 15 minutes, but then I see shrimp paste." {Sherry}: "It’s a really concentrated shrimp flavor. That’s going to be so good with my cornbread." She generously shared her batter with teammate Laurence for his chicken tendies. The judges flagged the shrimp paste move as smart, and the bisque drew her one of the strongest reviews of the day.
{Judge}: "Crab and shrimp bisque. Did you have, like, shrimp shells?" {Judge}: "Shrimp paste was a very smart play." {Judge}: "It’s a lot of flavor to bring in that short a time." {Judge}: "In that amount of time, to have that much flavor, it was really shocking, and I really enjoyed eating your dish."
