Who made this dish?
Second to start. A sponge with a molten caramelized-milk (dulce de leche) center, which the narrator says is topped with a set lemon curd. Baked hot on the lower shelf. Clara: "Today I'm doing a dulce de leche, because if I say it in Portuguese no one understands. Everyone loves dulce de leche. There's nothing not to like." Clara: "The sauce will be like a melted dulce de leche." (Asked if she has tried it out:) "Yeah, many times." Clara: "Here we are making some caramel, just like this caramelized milk flavor." Clara: "Baking it on a high temperature will make it harden on the outside and gooey in the inside." Clara: "This is my dulce de leche, just pouring in." Clara: "Put it on the lower shelf." Clara: "These are dulce de leche self-saucing puddings." Clara (after judging): "I'm so disappointed with myself." / "Two minutes could have changed my life." / "Crushed."
Paul (at the bench): "No, I do as well. It's one of my favorite flavors." Paul: "They do look good." Nigella: "Clara, this is not so much a self-saucing pudding but a sauce with a bit of cake on top." Paul: "There's not enough of a bake there. It's more like a heated liquid. I would have baked that a little bit more." Nigella: "But the flavors are lovely." Paul (judges' review): "Clara struggled on her signature."
