Finished 9th] Yannis made an Esterhazy torte, a Central European cake of thin almond sponge layers sandwiched with crème pâtissière, a staple of Austrian and Hungarian cafes. Yannis: "I'm making an Esterhazy torte. It's an almond sponge layered with crème pâtissière. Almost every Austrian or Hungarian cafe will have an Esterhazy." Yannis: "I'm making a [unclear]." {Alison}: "Are you trying to get that same color as your shirt?" Yannis: "Yeah." {Alison}: "You made sandwiches." Yannis: "Exactly." Yannis: "This is so stressful."
[Blind judging] Paul: "Moving on to sandwiches." Nigella: "They look perhaps a bit heartier than they need." Paul: "I know what they were trying to do. And it hasn't worked. I think there's salt in there as well." Nigella: "Yes, I like that bit." Nigella: "When you eat it, the heartiness is not so serving the flavors." Judges' ranking: 9th.
