Nigerian Mask Apple Pie

As seen on TV
Which Show?
Who made this dish?
Showstopper challenge: one large, beautifully decorated free-form pie, sweet or savory, shaped and baked without tins. Time allowed: 3 hours 30 minutes.
Moyin made a free-form apple and cinnamon pie using British Bramley apples in a hot water crust, decorated to resemble a Nigerian face mask inspired by the Ife bronzes and modern Nigerian art, with a braided edge.
Moyin: "If you're doing a sweet pie, I just don't get why you do anything apart from apple."
Moyin: "I'm using British apples."
Moyin (on using hot water crust with apple): "When I was looking it up, a lot of traditional old English apple pies use hot water crust. And I tried it and it was actually quite nice."
Moyin: "Very sturdy, very stiff. So it's kind of hard to overwork."
Moyin: "It's like a Nigerian art. So it's like a face mask. I'm getting a braided edge, because I know Paul likes his braids."
Moyin: "Good. It's getting brown. That's what I wanted, nice and brown."
Moyin: "I need at least two minutes to decorate."
Moyin (presenting): "The design is based on an amalgamation of Nigerian artwork, so the Ife bronzes and also some more modern art. My showstopper is an apple pie."
Moyin (after judging): "Tommy's getting Star Baker. I feel like we all know. I'm not getting Star Baker. I know that for sure."
Nigella: "I do like the look of it. It is difficult when you just see a bit of brown mulch coming through." (She suggested painting on a little apricot jam.)
Paul: "You can't say that's underbaked."
Nigella: "I'm finding the bottom crust a bit unmanageable, but I like the top crust."
Paul: "I think your filling is beautiful. I'm not sure whether hot water crust pastry is the right choice. That is so tough and the inside is soft."
Paul (deliberation): "Wrong choice of pastry."
Nigella (deliberation): "The filling was lovely. It kind of looked a bit frisbee like and it did taste a bit frisbee like for me."
