Oven Roasted Fennel with Feta, Pine Nuts, Roasted Fig, and Olives.
Paired with Justin on the Mint Chocolate Chip flavor, Jennifer also arrived at a Mediterranean framework - fennel, feta, and warm-climate produce. She roasted her fennel in the oven and finished the dish with toasted pine nuts, roasted fig halves, and olives dressed in a vinaigrette. Both chefs were cooking instinctively from their Mediterranean experience and only realized afterward how similar their approaches had been.
Justin described pushing a hesitant Jennifer to compete, noting she used to stand toe to toe with some of the best cooks in New York City.
