Who made this dish?
Orange team breakfast for the Cracker Barrel quickfire, dubbed the "international team" for its line-up of Mexican, Brazilian and Latin chefs. Oscar admitted he had never been to a Cracker Barrel and worked from a photo for inspiration, settling on pan de elote, the Mexican sweet corn cake. {Oscar}: "I haven’t been to Cracker Barrel. I saw the picture. Super inspired. It’s a corn cake. Throw some berries in it, a little bit of maple, and then shave piloncillo. Like, nice little sweet bite." He pushed to finish in ten minutes to give his teammates extra time. The result drew the strongest single endorsement of the entire quickfire.
{Judge}: "Really good." {Judge}: "Great job. I’ve never had this before." {Judge}: "A little salty." {Judge}: "They’re a little sweet. A good little crunch." {Judge}: "Oscar’s corn cake is still eating like a good, hearty pancake." {Judge}: "That was my favorite dish of the competition. Cracker Barrel prides itself on its crispy pancakes too. You just nailed it. It was really great."
