Who made this dish?

Janet, well known locally for her baking, makes a springtime Quiche Printaniere with a cheddar-flavoured pastry case filled with mixed vegetables and asparagus.

{Janet}: "Round our way we grow asparagus, and I just thought it would be light and fresh, hoping people feel the taste of summer."

For blind baking she reaches for a thrifty family trick. \

{Janet}: "I always use kidney beans because that's what my mother used, and they're cheaper than baking beans as well." She worries the beans may not weigh the case down enough to stop it ballooning out.

{Mary Berry}: "It needed a little more cooking." Despite the slightly underbaked centre,

Mary praises the base. {Mary Berry}: "The pastry is absolutely delicious."

The filling was judged a touch undercooked in the middle, but the cheddar pastry was a highlight. Janet finished 8th in the technical.
