Joel "We made shrimp and grits. It's shrimp cooked in coffee and coke sauce, creamy cheddar grits with a rainbow chard slaw and toast points."


Judge: "I think that the plate looks really nice, and I feel like this is an elevated shrimp and grits. The lemon quarter, on the other hand, you know, it's just kind of clunky, and I'm hoping that the sauce has all the flavor, and I really wouldn't need the lemon.


Judge: "Listen, the shrimps are cooked beautifully."


Judge: "Grits, creamy, heavy. Everything you need. But the exciting thing here is what you've done with the rainbow chard because it cuts the richness."


Judge: "And it mixes beautifully with the sweetness of those shrimp. The sauce is intriguing, really intriguing. I didn't want to like it, but I do because of the coffee and the sweetness. 

 

Judge: "I'll be honest. I judged you. When you said it, you were like Coca Cola. I'm like, oh, buddy, here we go. But this works. Like, the flavor of the spice that you have in the sauce cuts through that sweetness."


Judge: "Yeah, there's a lot of things that are really, really good about this dish. I mean, like, the shrimp are cooked perfectly. This sauce has this nice kick to it. The dish is very, very successful."
