Even though I have a lot of accolades under my belt, I feel like quite the underdog since birth. Being told that I should have been a boy automatically told me that maybe I'm not ever gonna achieve greatness. I have a lot to fight for. A million dollars can do a lot to help my family and my businesses. I really don't wanna go home in the first week."
To judges: "I made shrimp and grits, and then a little bit of crispy garlic and fresh cilantro."
Beverly Kim (post-win): "Like I said, I'm a koala."
Padma Lakshmi: "Your grits were so different from Sol's grits. They were creamy."
Michael Cimarusti: "I think you developed a ton of flavor here. The broth is delicious."
Wiley Dufresne: "I love the sauce that you conjured up — it was fantastic. But my shrimp are pretty under. I would like to have seen them cook just a hair more."
