Voice-over: "Judges, the chef presented a tomato stuffed with fregula and shrimp. The mandoline? They used that to slice the carrots for the sauce."


Other things we learned in watching the cooking:


  • Marc Murphy made a 'sauce' by mixing onion, tomato pulp and carrots and flambeeing it in brandy.

  • He didn't realize just how long it takes for fregula to cook and, indeed, at the end of 35 minutes it was still too chewy.

  • He sauteed the shrimp very quickly to avoid overcooking, then mixed it in with the tomato and carrot 'sauce'
