Treacle & Veda Bread Tart

Treacle and Veda bread tart topped with brown sugar Veda crumble and walnut brittle, served with an orange mascarpone cream.
Adam is a business PhD student who grew up in a small fishing village outside Belfast. He dreams of championing the food of his Northern Irish homeland.
Adam: "I'm doing a treacle and Veda bread tart with an orange mascarpone cream and a walnut brittle. Veda bread is a really traditional Northern Irish product. It's a dark malty loaf."
Grace: "This is a very special loaf. You need to know your way around a Veda bread."
Anna: "I feel like I've seen a new side of treacle tart that I didn't know existed. The deep maltiness, the kind of almost saltiness of the Veda bread. But then what really lifts the tart is the orange blossom cream."
Grace: "The brittle is lovely. There's a great snap off it, and what I think is really impressive: you really showed an excellent command of how to make a good shortcrust pastry." Adam won an apron.
