[Signature challenge: baked cheesecake inspired by a family favorite, baked with a relative]

Moyin and his mum made her favorite dessert: a vanilla and orange Basque cheesecake topped with a spiral of orange curd and candied orange peel.

Moyin: "This is my mother. She's not a bad baker. I don't know if I'll say she's a good baker."

{Moyin's mum}: "I'm good at obeying orders."

{Moyin}: "This is like an infusion of some cream. Vanilla, lemon, cinnamon. All of those are flavors that taste really good."

{Moyin}: "I've just strained my oranges. It needs to pack a punch."

Moyin: "I've got Mum working on the curd. You should just stir this forever and ever and ever."

{Moyin's mum}: "The boss tells me to stir, I stir."

Moyin: "She's worse than me. She's the most cheeky person ever."

Moyin: "This is some candied orange peel, and it should be soft but chewy and candied and nice and orangey."

Moyin: "I put the cheesecake in the freezer."

Moyin, presenting to the judges: "So this is a vanilla and orange Basque cheesecake."

Moyin, post-judging: "I don't think that could have gone any better."

Nigella: "That looks absolutely luscious."

Paul: "I love the color going all the way through. And the design. I can't wait to try this."

Nigella: "It's beautiful. I love the texture, and I absolutely adore that fierce spiral of orange curd. Really is zingier than zingy."

Paul: "That's one of the best things I've eaten for some time. The balance of flavors, the bake, the look is flawless."

[Paul gave a handshake]

Paul (later): "That cheesecake was perfect... I did give him a handshake, which was the first one of the series."
