Yorkshire Pudding Tower with Beef Meatballs, Roast Potatoes, Honey and Maple Glazed Rainbow Carrots, Creamed Cabbage and Leeks, and a Red Wine Onion Gravy
Donna Preston: "Every Sunday back in Yorkshire, we'd have a Sunday roast without fail. I get my friends to come around, and we have a good natter. And that, for me, is a good celebration. So I'm going to do a Yorkshire pudding tower. It's basically a tower with a Sunday roast."
Grace Dent: "How are you going to make these into a tower?"
Donna Preston: "So I've got my skewer here. So I'm going to stack, stack, and then around. Stack, stack. Okay, that's the plan. In my head, it speaks to me."
Donna Preston: "Got your roast potatoes, beef meatballs, your carrots, and you're also gonna have gallons of gravy."
Donna Preston: "Just gotta keep going with the Yorkshires. Like a conveyor belt. I'm very excited to make this for the judges."
Donna Preston: "These are the flattest Yorkshire puddings I've ever made in my life. They're like cakes. I think they're quite flat Yorkshires, aren't they? These are awful. I can't serve those."
Grace Dent: "Have you made Yorkshire puddings before?"
Donna Preston: "I'm Yorkshire." Grace Dent: "It's in your blood."
Donna Preston: "Yeah, it is in my blood. And if I can't get these to rise, am I northern anymore?"
Grace Dent: "I think you'd have to give your card back. But you're going to have to make some more, aren't you?"
Donna Preston: "Yeah, yeah, I'm on it, guys."
Donna Preston}: "I don't think I ever want to make a Yorkshire pudding again."
Donna Preston: "I'm feeling all right. You know, it worked out in the end. I think it's important to have fun with your cooking. And also you have to have a party in your mouth."
Giorgio Locatelli: "Donna set herself a really big task there. She's got so much preparation. This dish really is a feast. Those meatballs, I don't want them to be dry. I want it to be really juicy and fantastic."
Grace Dent: "But the entire key to this is a proper, plump Yorkshire pudding."
Giorgio Locatelli: "I love your Yorkshire pudding, because the outside is really crunchy. That creamed leeks and cabbage is delicious and gives me some really nice creaminess. This is exactly what the celebration dish should be."
Grace Dent: "The meatball is beautifully seasoned. Plenty of flavor. There's a nice amount of fat in there. Lovely crunchy roast potatoes. There's a lot to love here."
Giorgio Locatelli: "Great effort. Thank you very much."
Grace Dent: "Donna's dish was absolutely inspired."
Giorgio Locatelli: "That is what a celebration dish is all about."
Result: "Through to the next round."
