Aishu

Aishu is a home cook from Georgetown, Massachusetts, on Boston’s North Shore, and one of the twenty selected for MasterChef: Global Gauntlet, the sixteenth season of the American MasterChef.

She represented India on Team Asia-Pacific, winning one of five white aprons in the Asia-Pacific audition round (Episode 2, broadcast 22 April 2026). Her on-air graphic gave her age as 33.

She was born in Mumbai and raised in Florida, where her family settled in the 1990s. Before Boston she spent more than a decade as a classically trained Indian dancer and singer, performing across Florida and spending summers in India; she still described herself to the judges at audition as a rebel Indian, and gave Tiffany Derry and Joe Bastianich an impromptu dance lesson before she started

cooking. In Boston she built a career in tech, and in the summer of 2025 she was laid off. Four days later she applied to MasterChef. She has three children under three, and has been explicit in interviews that stepping back from the corporate track was as much for herself as for them. She now works as a food content creator, cooking elevated South Asian comfort food.

Her audition dish was an orange, cardamom and olive oil cake with vanilla mascarpone cream, blood orange coulis and pistachio crumble — a deliberate refusal of the traditional Indian sweet on the grounds of sugar. Gordon Ramsay praised its fragrance and said it tasted better than it looked; Tiffany Derry kept returning for another bite but wanted more salt; Joe Bastianich called it a delicious
