Sel arrived at the MasterChef: The Professionals kitchen in Birmingham carrying fourteen years of professional cooking experience across twenty-seven countries. Born in Guatemala, where his family ran a seafood business on the country's southern coast — his parents bringing home daily hauls of crabs and prawns to be packaged and shipped — Sel grew up with an intimate, almost genetic understanding of the sea. That foundation carried him through kitchens in Italy, Greece, Spain, the Caribbean, and across Asia before he settled in Brighton as a private chef, building a career defined by adaptability and global perspective.
