Sticky Marmalade Tea Loaf

On the first ever showing of The Great British Baking Show, in the first challenge, the contestants made their signature tea loaf and we saw Mark make his sticky marmalade tea loaf. This is our version of his dish.

Ingredients
2 cups self-rising flour
¾ cup caster sugar
½ cup butter, softened
3 large eggs
½ cup strong black tea, cooled
⅓ cup orange marmalade
2 tsp ground ginger
¼ tsp salt
2 tbsp golden syrup
STICKY GLAZE:
3 tbsp marmalade
2 tbsp golden syrup
1 tbsp hot water

Instructions
Preheat oven to 160°C (325°F). Grease and line a 9x5 inch loaf tin.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.
Fold in flour, ginger, and salt alternately with tea and marmalade.
Stir in golden syrup. Pour into prepared tin.
Bake 50-60 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.
For glaze: warm marmalade, syrup, and water. Brush over warm cake.
Cool completely before slicing.
