Glaze Consistency

The glaze should be applied while the cake is still warm to achieve optimal absorption and appearance. Mix the glaze to a consistency that coats a spoon but drips easily - too thick and it sits on top, too thin and it disappears into the cake. Apply in a steady drizzle pattern, allowing gravity to create natural flow lines down the sides. The residual cake heat will thin the glaze slightly, creating the perfect glossy finish that penetrates the top layer while maintaining visual appeal.
