Syrup Application for Moisture and Flavor

Proper syrup technique transforms good cakes into exceptional ones by adding moisture and concentrated flavor. The cake should be warm but not hot when syrup is applied - this allows better absorption without creating soggy texture. Use pastry brush to apply syrup evenly, working in sections and allowing each application to absorb before adding more. The syrup should be warm and slightly reduced for better penetration and flavor concentration. Multiple light applications work better than single heavy coating. Properly applied syrup creates incredibly moist cake that improves over time as flavors meld and distribute throughout the crumb.
