Colorado Vanilla Ice Cream with Maple Syrup and Corn Nuts
Brandon described his dish as 'Part of the puff, obviously. Nitrogen, Colorado vanilla ice cream. The snow reminds me of eating ice cream. For some reason, as a family, we love to put maple syrup on top of vanilla ice cream. Just dig in there, you'll see Nutella caramel, then also the corn nuts on top, just to finish for a little savory bump.'
During cooking he referenced his sons: 'I have a nine-year-old son named Brandon - he's Brandon number two - and I have Kaden, he's about to turn seven. You know, my kids come to the restaurant all the time. All kids love dessert.' He said of the challenge: 'I haven't won anything yet. I've been kind of hanging out in the middle, so this is a confidence booster. It's been a long time coming.'
Fortune Feimster: 'I don't think I've ever had syrup on ice cream.' Brandon: 'Maple syrup's the best.' Fortune: 'The corn nuts weirdly worked really well on that.' Kid judge Anna Kate named the ice cream as a favourite: 'The maple syrup on it just made it really good.' On the winner announcement, the three kids screamed 'Ice cream!' in unison. Brandon won $10,000 Quickfire cash. NBCUniversal also donated $10,000 to Comic Relief.
