Gochujang Fried Chicken with Hoe Cake and Bourbon Bacon Maple Syrup Jonathan: "I'm also going to do some fried chicken with it to try to make it a main dish. Growing up biracial, we learned Southern cooking from my grandma. On my black side, fried chicken, collard greens; then my mom's side, my grandma cooks a lot of European food. Pro tip: we're going to use potato starch and cornstarch for our chicken. This diversified culture was kind of confusing because when I became a chef, I just embraced whatever culture I was cooking in. But now I can cook multiple different cuisines." Jonathan: "If you see gochujang, can you grab it right here, immediately?" Jonathan: "I have a gochujang fried chicken with a hoecake, and then it's finished with a bourbon bacon maple syrup." Jonathan: "I've made hoecakes so many times, but the pressure's on."
