**Corn and Pecan Shrimp Chow Mein with Quick Scuppernong Pickle**
Laurence carried the four ingredients into a Cantonese-style chow mein, building sweetness into the sauce from oyster sauce and honey and trying to balance it with a quick scuppernong pickle in rice vinegar, sugar and salt. The pecans and corn went through the wok with the shrimp.
{Laurence}: "Right now they're sitting in rice vinegar and a little sugar and a little salt. We want to do a bit of sweet and sour - I want the sour to come from the grapes and the sweetness to come from the base of the sauce and the shrimp."
The judges found the layered sugars overwhelmed the plate.
{Gail}: "I would have to say Laurence - it was incredibly sweet."
{Tom}: "Yeah - I mean, it was more sugar than Rhoda's last dessert. Probably not a good thing."
Named one of the two least-favourite Quickfire dishes.
