Yellow team dinner for the Cracker Barrel quickfire and part of the winning slate. Jonathan spotted small tri-tip pieces in the pantry and recognised they would cook quickly enough to make the time limit. {Jonathan}: "They’re going to cook really fast. So I’m going to make a smothered steak." He chose the thinnest pieces deliberately and built a one-pan dish: seared steaks finished in a bourbon pan gravy, all from the same pan. {Jonathan}: "All right, y’all, you have a smothered steak in front of you with a bourbon pan gravy. This is like dinner after a long day." Asked if he’d add mashed potato with more time, he confirmed. Yellow took the win.
{Judge}: "I thought the flavor was great." {Judge}: "I personally loved it. But I think if you would have cooked the beef a little bit less, it would have been a perfect dish." {Judge}: "You accomplished that. The winning team gave us a crave worthy menu and some brand new classics."
