The Great British Baking Show ™

Andrew

Andrew Smyth appeared in Series 7 of The Great British Bake Off (2016) — the final series to air on BBC One, and the last to feature judge Mary Berry alongside hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins. Born in County Down, Northern Ireland, Andrew is an aerospace engineer for Rolls-Royce in Derby, where he designs jet engines. He graduated from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, in 2013 with a degree in engineering, and sings tenor with the Derby Bach Choir. Andrew learned to bake from his mother and grandmother, and became known on the show for what he cheerfully termed “bakineering” — ambitious, mechanically inventive constructions that drew on his day job. He was named Star Baker twice over the series and reached the final, finishing as a runner-up alongside Jane Beedle, with Candice Brown taking the title. He later returned for the 2018 Christmas special and served as an executive producer on the Netflix competition Baking Impossible.
