What is Labneh?

Labneh is a thick, creamy Middle Eastern cheese made by straining yogurt through cheesecloth until the whey drains away, leaving a dense, tangy paste.
At home, you can create a quick version by blending full-fat Greek yogurt or cottage cheese in a food processor until completely smooth. Adding roasted or canned vegetables such as beets intensifies colour and flavour while bringing natural sweetness and earthiness. The food processor emulsifies everything into a vivid, spreadable sauce in seconds.
Labneh works as a base under grilled proteins, a dip for flatbread, or a spread for sandwiches, and its mild tang pairs especially well with spiced or herb-forward dishes.
