The Great British Baking Show ™

Season:
Episode:
Challenge:
8 iconic wagon wheels
8 iconic wagon wheels

The iconic wheel shaped biscuit was first manufactured by Burton's Foods Ltd. in Great Britain in the middle of the 20th century.

Paul Hollywood: "I think there's many different elements to a Wagon Wheel. It's quite tricky. You need a layer of crunchy biscuit, with a layer of marshmallow which needs to be just right (neither too rubbery nor too runny) and then the chocolate coating must be nice and even over the top.

Prue Leith: " The chocolate should be firm enough to hold that marshmallow. It's a beautiful biscuit - the trick is to assemble it without panicking. "

Paul Hollywood: "These haven't quite set, and obviously there was an issue because the chocolate isn't binding with the bottom. "

Prue Leith: " This was a time problem. Oh, and they're glued to the plate. "

Paul Hollywood: "Well covered in chocolate. Tastes pretty good. The biscuit has some crunch to it and the marshmallow is silky. They're all pretty uniform.

Prue Leith: "Is this for a chocoholic? Wow"

Paul Hollywood: " A kid would be delighted."

Prue Leith: " Never mind the kids, I am quite delighted."

Paul Hollywood: " The top half is totally detached from the bottom."

Prue Leith: "I think this is also going to be a time problem. "

Paul Hollywood: "We wanted the sides covered with chocolate."

Prue Leith: "I think there's too much marshmallow, so no easy way to coat the sides."

Paul Hollywood: "That's the whole point of the chocolate - to create a shell to keep the marshmallow in place."

Paul Hollywood: "What happened? This looks like a rush job."

Prue Leith: "I'm not even sure this counts as a Wagon Wheel. "
