MasterChef UK ™

Jhane

Jhané Gibson is a home cook from North London (Islington) and the champion of MasterChef UK Series 22

(2026) — the first full series judged by Grace Dent and Anna Haugh, who took over the show following the

departures of Gregg Wallace and John Torode in 2025. Twenty-nine years old and of British-Jamaican heritage

— her father emigrated from May Pen, Clarendon, and her mother is English — Jhané built her entire campaign

around the food of the family parties and celebrations she grew up with: loud, generous, herb-forward and

unafraid of chilli.

She describes her cooking as the opposite of tweezers and dainty garnishes: bold flavours, fresh ingredients and

“portions so big they barely fit on the table,” built on high heat, fresh herbs and plenty of chilli — her favourite

ingredient. A backpacking trip around Southeast Asia gave her a lasting love of the region’s cooking, and she has spoken of one day running her own pub or restaurant.

Across the series Jhané’s Caribbean identity became a defining thread — her semi-final smoked venison with

jerk sauce was widely cited as a standout moment — and she carried that consistency through to a final filmed in

Antigua and Barbuda, where she beat fellow finalists Kirsten Dodd and Matt Willett over a three-course,

three-hour test to take the title. The Thai pork salad documented here is an early-rounds dish, but it already

shows the qualities the judges would reward all the way to the trophy: clear flavours, confident contrast and a

strong point of view on the plate.

Jhane won Masterchef UK in 2026.
