Duyen

Duyen Ha is a Vietnamese-American chef whose culinary identity is built at the crossroads of two worlds: the

slow-cooked family meals of her Binghamton, New York childhood, and the rigorously classical kitchens of Paris.

Raised in upstate New York by a family steeped in Vietnamese food culture, she absorbed the logic of layered flavors - fermented, sweet, sour, herbal - long before she ever set foot in a professional kitchen.

Ha's path to cooking was anything but conventional. She first built a career in tech, then distinguished herself as a

barista champion - an arena demanding the same precision and sensory acuity that would later define her

cooking. When she finally committed to the kitchen full-time, she went all the way: she enrolled at École Ferrandi

Paris, one of France's most prestigious culinar institutions, where she graduated top of her class.

What followed was an enviable tour of Europe's finest kitchens. She staged and cooked at Arpège (Alain

Passard, three Michelin stars), where vegetables are elevated to the level of religious experience; Mirazur (Mauro Colagreco, three Michelin stars, former World's No. 1 restaurant), and Frenchie in Paris. These formative years gave her an instinct for restraint - the understanding that a single ingredient, handled with total respect, can carry an entire plate.

By the time of Season 23 filming in late 2025, Ha was based in Los Angeles and leading The Cuisson, a culinary

studio specialising in brand hospitality and immersive dining collaborations. She was also the founder of

BONDLE, a French wine and Champagne brand, and had recently joined Legacy Motor Club - seven-time

NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson's race team - as executive chef, designing high-velocity race-weekend

culinary programs where timing is everything. Johnson himself appeared as a surprise guest judge in the Top

Chef premiere, a cameo that caught Ha genuinely off-guard. Her cooking philosophy, as she has described it:

French technique in service of personal memory.
